Day 1: Oslo – Welcome to Norway

Your private driver guide will collect you from your Oslo accommodation to begin your tour. Start with a walking tour of the city. Enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline from the roof of the Oslo Opera House. Pass through Karl Johans Gate, Oslo’s central boulevard, walking by grand buildings and boutiques before finishing at the Royal Palace.

In the afternoon, enjoy guided tours of two of Oslo’s renowned museums:

  • MUNCH Museum – Dedicated to the life and legacy of iconic artist Edvard Munch. See his best work, including his famous painting “The Scream.”
  • Fram Museum – Finish the day at the Fram Museum located on the scenic Bygdøy Peninsula. The highlight of the museum is the Fram ship, which was used for polar expeditions in the 19th century. Board the ship and learn all about Norway’s legendary polar expeditions.

Day 2: From Oslo to Lillehammer

Depart Oslo and relax in your luxury vehicle as your private guide takes you to Lillehammer on the shores of Lake Mjøsa, Norway’s largest lake. Begin your time in Lillehammer at the Maihaugen Open-Air Museum, featuring more than 200 historic buildings and costumed interpreters throughout. Lillehammer is most commonly known for its connection to the Olympics, and you can visit the Lysgårdsbakken Ski Jump arena, which was used during the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Finish the evening with a leisurely stroll along Lake Mjøsa before exploring the colorful town center before dinner.

Day 3: From Lillehammer to Røros

Head further north through the heart of Eastern Norway, traveling through the Gudbrandsdalen Valley to Røros, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the mining town, starting with a guided walk past the old miners’ cottages.

Enjoy a tour of the Røros Museum to learn how copper was extracted and exported across Europe. The museum also includes fascinating exhibitions on Sami culture, which we will explore further later on in the tour.

Finish at Røros Church, often called “The Mountain Cathedral.” Walk inside the church, admiring the elegant wooden interior, while your guide talks about the vital role it’s played in the town’s history.

Day 4: From Røros to Trondheim

Arrive in Trondheim around midday, spending the rest of the day exploring one of Norway’s most culturally significant sites.

Start by exploring Ndiaros Cathedral, a Gothic and Romanesque masterpiece built over the burial site of Saint Olav. Admire the stunning stained-glass windows and beautiful interior before climbing the tower for sweeping views over the city and fjord.

Enjoy a guided walk through the Bakklandet District, one of Trondheim’s most picturesque neighborhoods. Carry on to the iconic Old Town Bridge before finishing at the Kristiansten Fortress. Your guide will explain how this 17th-century fortress once protected the city as you enjoyed panoramic views over Trondheim.

Day 5: From Trondheim to Namsos

Leave Trondheim and begin your journey into Trøndelag’s northern coastal landscapes, heading toward the peaceful town of Namsos. The journey is a highlight in itself as you travel along the “Kystriksveien Coastal Drive,” enjoying beautiful views of the Trondheimsfjord.

Stop at Bølareinen, one of Norway’s most remarkable prehistoric rock carving sites. Here, you’ll see a life-sized reindeer carved over 6,000 years ago! There are also carvings of bears, boats, and humans visible on the natural rock.

Arrive in Namsos in the late afternoon, starting with a walk along the Namsen River, known as one of Norway’s most famous salmon rivers. Your guide will tell you about the traditional salmon fishing techniques, and you can try your hand at fly fishing!

Day 6: From Namsos to Brønnøysund

Travel along the Kystriksveien (Coastal Route 17)—famous for its remote beauty and endless seascapes. Admire the archipelago-style landscapes and charming fishing communities, and feel free to ask your driver guide to pull over for photo opportunities.

As you approach Brønnøysund, visit one of Norway’s most legendary geological landmarks: Torghatten, the mountain with a hole running straight through it! Your guide will lead you along the tunnel to the hole while telling you the story of how it was believed that a troll was responsible for creating it.

End the day with a short boat excursion from Brønnøysund harbor before checking into your waterfront hotel accommodation.

Day 7: From Brønnøysund to Sandnessjøen

Today’s journey continues along the breathtaking Helgeland Coast, one of Norway’s most beautiful and lesser-known scenic regions.

Start the day with a boat tour of the Vega Archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage site. On the main island, visit the Vega World Heritage Centre, where you’ll learn the fascinating story of the island women who, for generations, tended to eider ducks.

Take a short ferry crossing and enjoy views of the archipelago before arriving at Andalsvågen, on the mainland south of Sandnessjøen. In the early evening, you’ll arrive in Sandnessjøen, a beautiful coastal town where you’ll spend the night. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the marina before dinner at a local seafood or modern Nordic bistro.

Day 8: From Sandnessjøen to Mo i Rana

Your private guide will continue your journey northward, stopping at Svartisen Glacier Viewpoint, Norway’s second-largest glacier. Enjoy the viewpoint, offering fantastic photo opportunities of the glacier’s striking blue ice.

As you continue your drive, you’ll pass the symbolic Arctic Circle line, a great stop for photos as you celebrate entering Arctic Norway. Stop at Polarsirkelsenteret, a visitor center where you can learn about Arctic geology, climate, and wildlife.

Arrive in Mo i Rana, an industrial town surrounded by mountains and fjords, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 9: From Mo i Rana to Bodø

On day 9, you’ll journey along Northern Norway’s scenic coastal route from Mo i Rana to the lively harbor city of Bodø. The route takes you through lush valleys, alpine lakes, and beautiful fjord crossings.

Stop at Saltstraumen, a natural phenomenon that is home to the world’s strongest tidal current! You’ll be able to admire powerful whirlpools and eddies standing on bridges and walking paths along the shore.

Arrive in Bodø and enjoy a tour of the Norwegian Aviation Museum, where you can see exhibits exploring the history of civil and military aviation and legendary planes like Spitfire, F-104 Starfighter, and F-5 Freedom Fighter.

Finish the evening with a sunset stroll along the promenade before a relaxing dinner on the harborfront.

Day 10: From Bodø to Narvik

Continue your northbound journey into the Arctic interior to Narvik. The drive takes approximately 4.5 hours, with time for plenty of scenic stops along the way.

Enjoy views of granite peaks and mountain lakes as your guide takes you along the E6. Stop halfway in Rago National Park. one of Norway’s most remote and wild national parks. There are long hiking trails available, but even a short hike rewards you with spectacular views of cascading waterfalls and deep valleys.

Arrive in Narvik and enjoy a guided tour of the Narvik War Museum. Your guide will share the story of the 1940 Battle of Narvik while you see exhibits on military strategy and the lives of civilians during this time.

If time allows, finish the day on the Narvikfjellet Gondola, a cable car that takes you up the mountainside for incredible panoramic views of the fjord.

Days 11: From Narvik to Tromsø

Relax and enjoy the scenery as your private guide takes you through the Arctic landscape, passing beautiful fjords, small islands, and coastal fishing villages.

Arrive in Tromsø in the afternoon, starting with a walk along the harborfront area as your guide shares the history of the city. Enjoy a guided tour of the Polar Museum, where you’ll learn about legendary Norwegian explorers such as Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen. Explore reconstructed trapper cabins while your guide explains how people hunted, cooked, and survived in one of the harshest environments on Earth.

Tromsø is well renowned for its impressive Arctic cuisine, and you’ll finish the evening at a restaurant handpicked by our local tour planners based on the food and setting that you’re looking for.  

Days 12: Best of Tromsø

Start your day with a visit to one of Tromsø’s most famous landmarks, the Arctic Cathedral. Your guide will lead you through the cathedral’s stunning interior, with the highlight being the magnificent stained-glass window. From the cathedral, your private guide will take you to the nearby Tromsø Bridge, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding mountains and fjords.

Next is the Polaria Arctic Aquarium, a fascinating science center and museum where you’ll learn about Arctic marine life through interactive exhibits. Your guide will help you understand the challenges of Arctic ecosystems and the ongoing human impact on the Arctic.

Ride on the Fjellheisen Cable Car for the five-minute journey to Mount Storsteinen. As you stand on the viewing terrace, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular 360-degree views of the city below. This is also a prime location for viewing the Northern Lights in winter.

Day 13: Tromsø & Return to Oslo

Start day 13 with a tour of Tromsø University Museum, featuring a Northern Lights Exhibition that details the science behind the magnificent aurora. You’ll also be able to enjoy a collection of Sámi artifacts, acting as an appropriate preview of the following stop on your tour.

Visit a traditional Sámi camp where you can meet and feed reindeer, hear stories around a fire inside a lavvu (Sámi tent), and learn about indigenous Arctic life.

To save an incredibly long drive through Norway, you’ll end the day on a short flight taking you from Tromsø back to Oslo, where you’ll spend your final night.

Day 14: Departure from Oslo
