Flåm, Aurlandsfjord & Stegastein Tour Itinerary
Your tour begins with your private driver-guide collecting you from your accommodation in Bergen. Your friendly guide will talk you through the itinerary and share some engaging stories about the attractions ahead. Break up the drive with stops at local lakes and waterfalls at your request.
Flåm
Arrive in the breathtaking village of Flåm, located at the end of the Aurlandsfjord. The village is surrounded by the fjord, mountains, and waterfalls and is one of our favorite villages in Norway!
Start with a guided walking tour through the village along the waterfront. You’ll pass colorful wooden houses, small boats, and panoramic views of the fjord. Take your time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings before your guide takes you to two notable attractions:
- Flåm Church – A 17th-century white wooden church. Step inside the charming church and get a sense of rural Norwegian life.
- Flåm Railway Museum – Learn the story of the Flåmsbana, one of the steepest and most scenic railway lines in the world. You can witness exhibits on vintage locomotives and the engineering feats that made this railway possible, given the mountainous terrain.
Fjord Cruise
Enjoy a private cruise through the narrow UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord. You’ll have some fantastic photo opportunities with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. See towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and remote farms on the mountainside. As you appreciate the beautiful surroundings, your guide will tell you local legends and stories about the area’s geology.
Aurland & Aurlandsfjord
Your private guide will continue your journey through the Aurlandsfjord on your way to Aurland & Aurland village. Explore the quiet village, starting with a walk along the scenic waterfront. The village is known for its craftsmanship and traditions, so your guide will lead you to two of its local workshops:
- Aurlandskoen Shoe Factory – Visit the historic factory that produces the iconic Aurland shoes, often considered the original Norwegian penny loafers. Learn of the shoe’s legacy and watch skilled artisans handcraft each pair using traditional techniques.
- Glassblåseriet Glassblowing Studio – Visit this local glass workshop and gallery, where you can watch the mesmerizing process of glass being blown and shaped by hand. You’ll have the chance to talk to the artists about their techniques and inspiration.
Stegastein Viewpoint
For the final attraction of the day, your private guide will transport you up the mountainside from Aurland to the spectacular Stegastein Viewpoint, one of Norway’s most photographed panoramic spots. Perched at 650 meters (2,130 feet) above sea level, the viewpoint offers breathtaking views over the Aurlandsfjord below. Your guide will point out notable landmarks and share insights into the region’s geology while you walk around the magnificent viewpoint. Stegastein is an absolute must-see, and we consider it one of the best stops in the entire fjord region.

Enjoy the scenic drive back to Bergen, and feel free to ask your private guide to pull over if you notice some stunning views. Take some last-minute photos and bask in your surroundings one final time. Your private guide will return you to your hotel in Bergen after a day exploring some of Norway’s most beautiful areas.
